Assignment Week #1

What am I reading right now and my rating:

I just finished reading the Hunger Game series by Suzanne Collins, and the Mockingjay was the last book.  If you like adventure, mystery and war it's a good book.  Parts of it are about a love story but the best parts were the mystery (unless you like love stories).

My rating is: 4

I scored it  a 4 because it didn't get to the good parts very fast.  It was mostly about Katniss and her feelings.  It wasn't until maybe 150 pages before I started getting into it but once I was in I was hooked.

My rating scale:
1 - Not impressed with story
2 - Okay but needs improvement
3 - Good story but needs help
4 - Really Good and has movie potential
5 - Excellent and recommended for others to read and would be a great movie

What I am waiting for:

My mom asked friends at work what other books might be of interest to me now that I have read the Hunger games and they told us to read "World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War".

Reading Blog of the Week:
When I was reading The Hunger Games series I thought it would be a good idea to make it into a movie so I checked it on the imdb (the movie data base) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1392170/. In this link you will find information on the cast and who creates the movie.  Gary Ross will be the Director, but Gary Ross, in the past films, they have been all kids movies. So I think Gary Ross will make the movie too cheezy. They should have chosen another director because the book was about killing and love in the future after the world was split into 13 districts and a capital. Based on his past experience they have all been kids movies. I really like The Last Airbender and I think the director of The Last Airbender  should have gotten the director part to make the movie's special affects.

Other Blog of the Week:
I am interested in hearing about weird news of the world, survival stories, cooking and anything to do with fishing.  My brother came home and talked about something he learned at work this morning - dead birds falling from the sky all over the world by the thousands.  So I looked it up and this it what I found:

http://www.upi.com/Top_News/World-News/2011/01/08/Doves-fall-from-sky-in-Italy/UPI-66861294501810/
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newsvideo/weirdnewsvideo/8237149/Birds-fall-dead-from-US-sky.html
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/sweden/8243222/More-dead-bird-mystery-in-Sweden.html

How can thousands of these birds die randomly at the same times around the world?
My theory is that since humans are polluting the world I think the world is giving us a punishment by killing wildlife.  When these birds were found, they died normaly no infections or anything explain that. Maybe the breathed in too much cold air and were exhausted and simply fell from the sky.

After searching some more (Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVDEH9wdgZc) maybe when they tried to poison one group of birds, like the starlings in the Youtube video, they actually ended up killing more than just the starlings.  Stupid people.

Challenge of the Week: Book to Food
The book I was reading was The Hunger Games I thought that was a scary book so I will relate it to the disgusting brussel sprout the world mosts disgusting food. The Hunger Games series relates to it because it's scary, only crazy people love them and there a big mystery to them: why would mini cabbages taste so different to fully grown cabbages?
