Assignment Week #9

What I am reading and my rating:

I am reading The zombie war and I can’t get hooked into it. I would recommend it to people that like scary stories but I would not recommend it to people that like the adventure through. the whole book is about random stories that confuse you and it ruins that genre.

My rating: I rate is a 2 because this book has gotten very boring. I just can’t even read a page it’s so bad I liked it till they started doing 70% talking and less action.

What am I waiting for :

I am waiting for my basement to be finished. We started finishing the basement in December and the walls and everything is finished. But we have no furniture and hardly any decorations we get everything in march. I can’t wait because then this is where I will be all summer because it’s nice and cold when I will be playing movies and going on the computer.

Blog of the week: I was looking up blogs about this book series or genre I guess called manga. So many people are reading it in our class but there not even books there like comics and you read it so weird. In a normal book you would read it from right to left, but in these series you read them left to right and start at the bottom of the page to the top it’s amazing how some other countries read books…

My challenge that I will give to another class mate is:  Picture yourself as your main character in your book and what would you change to make the book better. explain how you changed the book is there any main parts you changed and what did you do to make it better.

Assignment Week #7

What I am reading and my rating:

I am reading The Zombie War and it has got a lot more action in it now there is a survival part in every 3 pages and it is improving on a lot of suspense before it was getting you scared then they would say something stupid and ruin it for you. But so far the book is really good I would definitely not recommend it for girls though.

My rating:

I would rate this book a 5 out of 5 because the book has a great story to it and is very genre packed because they don’t follow one story line they take different peoples story of survival and make there little own story out of it.

What am I waiting for:

I have started a little new blog called Littlesuechef.blogspot.com and I said I would start this weekend but I forgot to take pictures of my desert it was espresso crème brulee so next weekend I will post pictures and my goal is to get at least 200 views from around the world.

Fantastic thing of the week:

 I have just came back from my dad’s friends cottage and I had a blast I went on multiple vehicles like the atv , skidoo and the razor which is a miniature car basically but can handle about 2000 pounds on it. That was the best weekend I have ever had since September when I went to Maine.

Challenge of the week:

My book I chose for this challenge is The Hunger Games because there is a specific part that will be good for this challenge:

When Katniss chooses to let her sister Prim go in the hunger games or substitute for her and possibly die.

My new ending:

So Prim gets to go in the games and she fought till the death and was one of the one out of three people left and she was in the middle of them fighting. Prims specialty is to use a fishing rod she made one out of sticks and swords. When she was in the middle of the battle she used her fishing rod to hook Cato in the face and it was only Peeta and Prim left. The big difference is Prim is 12 and Peeta is like 17 so Prim doesn’t care if he’s dead. So Prim attacks and ends up winning but the games weren’t over.

Assignment Week #6

What am I reading and my rating?

I am currently reading The Zombie War and it is such a suspenseful book. It’s jammed packed with action and horror you will never put it down. It will suck you into a black hole of reading nonstop.

My rating: I rate it a 5 because it definitely is an awesome book if you heard from my presentation it actually scared some people. Because of the scary music and I would recommend this book to boys because it’s an action, adventure and horror book.

What I am waiting for: I am waiting for the summer because I just found out our family is going to India and I get to see my grandma for the first time. I am very sad because my grandpa passed away when I was just born: ( .

Blogs of the week: I am not a big reading fan so I have picked an amazing website from the cordon bleu and that is where my mom and my dad want me to for fill my dream of being a pastry chef slash cooking chef.  I am getting very good at baking now this weekend I made a dessert pizza and every loves it, with a layer of nutella, cherry’s and peanuts nothing could go wrong.

Challenge:  Sorry I could not get 10 books we were at busy this weekend I am wrighting this at about 10: 20

I really dislike a lot of books they have to be books that have made something in my mind like the hunger games made me think I was inside it and zombie war did too. But 10 books is hard for me to choose, so I am going to look in my forbidden bookshelf OOOoooo.

1: Dead AND Gone

I have picked this book because it sounds scary and I love when a book gets you scared it’s the last thing you would get scared by.

2: The Burning Crown

I picked this book because my brother has read it and said it was an awesome book so I hope he’s right.

3: The Sea Of Monsters

I would bring this book because it brings mystery to your mind like what’s the sea of monsters.

4: The BUTT series

I would bring this book because even the title makes you laugh like what does it mean by buts going physco?

5: The Fire Within

I picked this book because I am obsessed with dragons they are all over my room I thought this book would give me memories of my room.

6: The Dragon Rider

When I was a kid I had a dream of riding mystical creatures and of course dragons were my favourite and the thought of riding one would be amazing.

7:The Serpents Egg

I would bring this book because it brings mystery to my mind like: Do they steal the egg, cook it, make babies and train them, Who knows.

Assignment Week #5

What I am reading and my rating:

I am reading The Zombie war and it seems like a very scary book considering a lot of people die and the constant worry of zombies coming after you. The saddest parts are when someone from their family dies trying to survive the zombies. One of the mothers got bitten and she didn’t want to turn into one and accidentally kill her family.

My rating:

I rate this book a 4 because it definitely is an awesome book. It has gotten awards and is almost as popular as the hunger games, but I still think it would have movie potential considering there is a moving coming out on it.

What I am waiting for:

I am waiting for something our family is going to make a tradition on. My dad said we would go salmon fishing every year because we don’t get to do a lot during the school year all we do is eat and sleep. So my dad would like to start this tradition so we can get more active I think it will be very fun to do fishing is my favourite think to do.

My blog of the week:

I was so confused about the whole news story about the girls getting kidnapped that is amazing how they put every person in Barrhaven in a worry mode. It made every girl worried about going outside and I bet the school board wasted a lot of paper sending out those notices about the kidnapper that never really existed.

My challenge:

Since I just started reading books a lot this year I have only read 5 books but the others I will base on genre and style

1: hunger game awesome book could read that so many times and it would never get old.

2: catching fir I love this book because the ending is amazing and if I have this book the you know what other book I need.

3: mocking jay even know I did not like this book that much I still would bring it because the ending when she kills president snow and avenges her sister.

4: Zombie war: I think this would be an awesome book to bring on the dessert because it boosts you body and makes you very energetic.

5: Nose from Jupiter this book was boring but I haven’t read a lot of books so I would have to bring it on the trip.

6: zombie survival guide I would bring this book because I love Max Brooks as an author his books have so much scariness.

7: how to train your dragon I have a weird obsession over dragons I think there amazing creatures and I always imagine that I have there powers to fly.

8: enigmas I got this book for Christmas and it is a whole bunch of tricky games that mess with your mind but I think it’s cool when I board.

What I am reading and my rating:

I am reading the “Zombie War” book and it is very scary. I think it has a good storyline to it and it doesn’t have any gory parts. When you’re reading and there is a mini movie theatre going on in your head, you don’t want to picture limbs being torn off or body’s being ripped apart.

My rating: I rate my book a 4 because it has gotten very good and it has hooked me into it. I really enjoy the parts that are like “The zombies are coming in! We have to run!” those are my favourite parts and that’s why I rate it a 4.

What I am waiting for: I am waiting for a pottery class I am going to take with my mom. We practically do it every year since 2009 and I love it. I am going to do the hand building course, that’s when you mould the clay yourself. But I have done spinning wheel before but I like hand building because you can be so much more creative.

Reading blog of the week: I am waiting for a movie called Red Riding Hood. I thought it would be more of a kid’s movie but the genre is a horror film. The release date is 11 March, 2011. The director is Catherine Hardwicke, she was the director of twilight and if she makes it as good as twilight, then Red riding Hood will be amazing

Other blog of the week: As you know from my previous blog entry’s I am addicted to cooking and baking. So I searched for a baking blog this time and I have found one. It is called sweettreatsbakingblog.blogspot.com and it shows a new recipe every week and detailed pictures of what it looks like. The number one thing I hate about cooking books is that the picture in the book will never look as good as what you make.

My challenge:

Hunger games: The lucky charm for this book The Hunger Games was the pin she got from the mayor’s daughter. The Mocking Jay pin helped her through the the games by reminding her what was important. It also helped her  re-entering the games and during the rebellion.  Also Finnick took his spear as his lucky charm and a fishing net to the hunger games.

(This is the only book that I read that has a lucky charm).

Assignment Week #4

What I am reading and my rating:

I am reading the “Zombie War” by Max Brooks and it has gotten very sad. The part I’m at right now they are interviewing this guy that couldn’t save his family. When a zombie came in they had guns and shot them but the saliva from the zombie is also poisonous.  A man’s wife did not want to become a zombie so his wife killed herself.  The man just escaped a big horde of zombies.

My rating:

 I will rate the part a 5 because I really think it’s an awesome book perfect for the movie. The only thing is if they make the movie, they shouldn’t make it boring by only interviewing people the whole time. It might possibly ruin a great book.  Anyways I would recommend this book to people that like sad, scary, suspensful books.

What am I waiting for:

I'm waiting to find out how he escaped the zombie horde. It's not easy to get past the zombies.  He is a survivor right now.

It is a reading blog and what Linda does, she reads the books and does a review on them. I think this is nice because it is better to see someone else’s reviews instead of just the back of the book reviews.

Other blog of the week:

Since I love cooking, I searched for a healthy cooking blog and I have found one.  It’s a very healthy blog. Amy posts a picture with the recipe so you get to see what you will be cooking.   I thought this site was nice because not a lot of families make healthy meals everyday. The author’s site is Stephenie Meyer.

Relevance of this Site: The author keeps her fans up to date on the things she is doing and provides links to other sites that sell her books and stuff.

The layout of her site is : Her landing page or home page where her brother Seth provides updates on her books and her Twilight movies. I think Stephenie is trying to sell her series on her page and  her page seems to only revolves around Twilight and her new Illustrated Guide.  It’s almost like a blog site.

The other sections of her website include: bio (where she provides a background about herself); Twilight Series (where she has information about the books); The Host (a new book not in the Twilight Series that is being turned into a movie.  She seems excited about this.); Other Projects (where she shows how the book covers were selected); Calendar (nothing there); Movies (showing what books have been turned into movies, with links to amazon.com; and Books and Gear (where she shows you where to buy her books and stuff).

Quality of the site: Mid quality

Navigation: This is good and things are easy to find.

Searchability: This is not good.  You are not able to search this site.

Site Structure: This is good and the site tabs make sense.

Content: There is some content but not a lot. I would like to see more options such as things for kids, things we didn’t know about the characters, and information on the cast in her movies. 

Why people should visit the site: When I first got on the website I saw big pictures and lots of links some for selling her stuff.  If you like the series of the books and want to know other stuff coming out, like the Illustrated Guide, this site is helpful.

Assignment Week #3

What I’m reading and my rating:

I am reading the book called “Zombie War” by Max Brooks. The part I’m in right now is interviewing they go to different countries and see what has happened during the zombie war. They are in Antarctica and they have thought of a vaccine for the disease.  They  called the vaccine “African rabies”.

 

My rating:

I would the rate the part I’m at right now a 4 because it is good but it’s not like a good “get right into the book” kind of good.  It’s like what’s going to happen next book. You have to read a lot about before you get into the book.  It is like a movie theatre in you brain when your reading it -  I highly recommend it.

What I’m waiting for:

I am waiting for Harry Potter Part Two (the movie) because I loved the Harry Potter series.  It has very stunning special effects especially the magic scenes. But the biggest part I hate about the two movies “Breaking Dawn” and “Harry Potter” is splitting the movies so there is a part one and part two. So I promised my self if I am going to watch them I will watch them right after another. Because if I watched it in November and the second one comes out Jul, then I would forget the first part and I wouldn’t like the movie as much.

Reading blog of the week:

I wonder if there will be a Zombie War 2 book. If they continued it maybe it would be more popular, like I am legend - awesome. But they could have made more money by making the finish like one of those books that make you have to read the next one. Even though I haven’t finished zombie war I still think they should make another one. If you ever noticed that books or movies with more than one series makes a lot more money than just one book.

I love cooking, so I was searching for a cooking blog. I have found one.  The blog name is “Memorie Di Angelina”  It is an Italian cooking blog and I thought it was fascinating to look at new style of cooking from my everyday stuff. They have a lot of fascinating stuff and recipes. Each entry is like a new recipe.  Last week’s blog entry was about pancakes (not sweet but one with black pepper and parsley and no flour) that I am going to try to make.  Actually its just like an egg omelette and Italians call that a pancake.

This week’s challenge: Freezer books:

Mocking Jay

I thought this was a freezer book because it takes so long to get to the good parts. I literally wanted to put it in the freezer or garbage.  I was almost ready to just stop reading that book and move on. It had to be at least 150 pages before I even started getting into it. But when it got to the good parts I couldn’t stop reading.

 

Zombie war: The oral history of the zombie war

It is a good book. But it’s more of an interviewing book. I want to put it into the freezer because it gets very good for like 10 pages then gets really boring for like 15 pages.  It’s a very weird book. It tells you what happen during the zombie war .

Nose of Jupiter

I read this book in grade 4 and it was horrible because it was so boring.  I don’t like being forced to read a specific book.  It was definite freezer material.
